Treat Yourself to a Pre-Christmas Break at Portmeirion
"Celebrating the Season of Goodwill in Style"
December may be the last month of the calendar year, but it's certainly not last when it comes to great short break deals. Enjoy the freedom to ramble in Portmeirion’s 70 acre woods, crunching along frosty paths on a cold sunny morning. The Gwyllt wood has many winter flowering shrubs and plants, at their most vibrant in the colder months: flaming scarlet willow, red-barked dogwood, the strawberry tree, which bears fruit just before Christmas, and Himalayan silver birch trees with their stark white trunks.
In an incomparable setting on its own private peninsula, Portmeirion is a magical architectural fantasy. Built from 1925 to 1976 this is the ultimate romantic seaside resort. After a walk in the woods or along the coast, relax in the cosy lounges of the Hotel for a refreshing glass of Champagne and festive afternoon tea.
Many of Portmeirion’s rooms and suites are dotted around the village, most with fine views of the estuary and mountains, others with spectacular views of the village itself. There are rooms in the main Hotel building and also in Castell Deudraeth. Castell Deudraeth’s slate and oak bar and its white-walled restaurant showcase the best seasonal produce, sourced locally and prepared with care. The Hotel Portmeirion’s splendid art deco dining room has a festive table d’hôte menu featuring the best Welsh produce.
