Memorial planting

Plant a Tree in Memory

Following the storms and gales of 2011, Portmeirion lost over 150 mature trees in and around the village and the area known as the Gwyllt. Some of these trees formed the historical landscape of Portmeirion for centuries. Following numerous requests from members of the public to erect plaques or benches in the village in memory of loved ones and friends, Portmeirion Ltd adopted a policy of “plant a tree” to enrich the existing collection of trees and to help the environment in memory of loved ones. Members of the public are able to purchase a tree themselves or order a tree from the horticulture department at Portmeirion between November-March and plant the tree in a location, agreed in advance, with the head gardener.

Complimentary entrance for the family (up to 4 Persons) will be permitted on the day of planting, following the planting of the memorial tree, entrance tickets or a membership, must be purchased to enter the village.
