The Hotel Dining Room

 

The Hotel Portmeirion was opened by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis on the 2nd of April 1926. In 1930 he added the curvilinear dining room, describing it, he wrote;

"The Walls are of grey French walnut and the floor of light polished oak. Ceiling blush rose with green cornice, curtains jade and windows primrose."
 

In 2005 the Dining Room and Bar were re-designed by Sir Terence Conran in an art deco style. The Dining Room has majestic breath taking views over the Dwyryd Estuary. The tableware is designed by Sophie Conran for Portmeirion. An oil painting which hangs proudly overseeing the restaurant is a late 1940's portrait of Jim Wylie - Portmeirion's first Hotel Manager - sitting in the Hotel Dining room, This was painted by Edward Wolfe R.A. 

Portmeirion's Executive Head Chef Mark Threadgill and his talented team of Hotel Chefs, under the supervision of Head Chef Daniel Griffiths use the finest local ingredients, including some foraged from right here in the village, to create their unique style of Modern-Welsh cuisine while combining traditional French techniques and Japanese flavours. The menu is changed regularly to allow for the chefs to utilise the freshest of seasonal produce.

The Dining Room has two AA Rosettes which it has retained for a number of years, and is open for Resdient breakfast services, Pre-booked 2 or 3 course Lunch, Afternoon tea and Dinner.

 Dinner Service
 

Dinner is served in the Hotel Dining Room from 18:00 - 21:00. We welcome both residents and non residents for dinner and have two menu's for you to choose from...

 

Table d'hote Menu

 

With two alternating Table d'hote menus catering for multiple nights stays, there is indeed something for everybody on offer here in the Dining Room.

All dietaries can be catered for with prior warning. We also have an exciting Vegan menu for our vegan guests.

Two Courses - £68 per person // Three Courses - £75 per person 

 

Gourmet Menu 

 

Our Tasting menu is perfect for those special occasions. 

With a standard 6 courses and optional cheese course* the Gourmet menu gives you an insight into the flavours utilised by our kitchen brigade. Using the very best of local Welsh produce.

6 course Gourmet Menu - £100 per person

*Optional Cheese course charged at £9 Supplement per person

 

Please note that there is no complementary entry into the village with a Dinner Booking before 17:30


 

Traditional Sunday Lunch

 

**All pre-booked Portmeirion Hotel Sunday Lunches include complementary entry into Portmeirion Village.**

 

On Sundays, a traditional Sunday lunch is served between 12:30 and 14:30.

Traditional Sunday lunches are served with seasonal vegetables, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes. Enjoying the beautiful view of the Dwyryd Estuary framed through the Dining Room's windows is the perfect way to enjoy a fantastic Sunday Lunch.

2 Courses - £32 // 3 Courses - £38

 

Please note that any Sunday lunches booked as of 1st of December will be our Festive Sunday Lunch Menu.


 

AFTERNOON TEA
 

**All pre-booked Portmeirion Afternoon Tea reservations include complementary entry into Portmeirion Village after 12:00.**

 

The Hotel Portmeirion serves Afternoon Tea in the lounges and restaurant between 14:30pm - 15:30pm, Monday to Saturday.

AFTERNOON TEA MENU


Our Afternoon Tea menu changes regularly, allowing us to use the best of the seasons produce. 

Included in your tea you will have a Selection of Finger Sandwiches and as a savoury treat we also serve our homemade artisan sausage rolls. 

To Accompany your savoury items we have a selection of our Pastry Chef's desserts and brace of fruit and plain scone. Served with Jam and Clotted Cream. 

Please note that all dietary requirements can be catered for when prior notice is given.

Afternoon Tea - £36 Per Person

Please note that from 27th November 2025 our Festive Afternoon tea will be served in the Hotel Restaurant until December 27th.



 

Restaurant Formal Lunch Service

 

**Pre-Booking Only**

 

Between Monday and Saturday - the Hotel Portmeirion Restaurant will be offering a Formal Restaurant Lunch Service, on a pre-booking only basis.

A sample menu is available below.

**Please note that any pre-booked tables will be reserved in the Main hotel restaurant. We are unable to sit pre-booked tables on the Hotel Terrace in favourable weather.**

Should you wish for something lighter at lunchtime from the Hotel - in favourable weather a light lunch menu is available on a first come first serve basis on the Hotel Terrace. Bookings are not taken for the terrace.


 

Dietary Requirements;

We recognise the seriousness of food allergies and we ask you to advise us in advance of any allergies that you may have and also tell staff on the day. We take extreme caution to minimize any risk of cross contamination but this is not an allergy free kitchen and we do handle allergenic ingredients. We reserve the right to decline reservations and bookings from customers with serious food allergies. Portmeirion Ltd will not assume responsibility for adverse reactions to dishes consumed here. Allergens used in our kitchen include dairy, gluten, eggs, nuts, peanuts, molluscs, crustaceans, fish, lupin, sulphites, mustard, sesame, soya, celery.
