St David's Weekend

2019-02-19

Portmeirion is opening its doors to the public for free on Friday 1 March 2019, as part of a weekend of celebrations to honour the Patron Saint of Wales.

The top visitor attraction is planning a weekend of celebrations of Welsh heritage and culture. Visitors will enjoy complimentary guided tours of the village and land train through the Gwyllt woodland as well as an audio-visual show featuring Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis explaining how and why the village was built. Our gardeners have planted over 3,000 daffodils for the occasion!

A preview of the ‘Dome of Discovery exhibition, new for 2019, will also be open for visitors. The exhibition preview will feature pottery and artefacts associated with Portmeirion which will help visitors develop a deeper understanding of the site and how it developed.

The celebrations will continue all weekend long with an exciting programme of Welsh entertainment and Welsh-themed menus on Saturday and Sunday, 2-3 March. Enjoy afternoon tea in the Hotel Portmeirion, or freshly made Welsh cakes or Welsh Rarebit in the on-site cafes. The Angel Ices Gelateria will even be serving Bara Brith ice cream!
